British Egyptian Visit to Naples 2024
A group of Society members families and friends had a very enjoyable few days in
Naples.
There was a very full programme organised by the Secretary Noel Rands.
First on the list was a visit to the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli. Int the
evening the restaurant “Mimi” just 5 mins from our hotel was excellent. The food,
service and atmosphere were everything you could want.
The following day we set off by train to visit Pompeii in the morning and Sorento in
the afternoon. Pompeii is, of course magnificent. It was a huge city and seems
incredible that it was wiped out so quickly.
After lunch we took the train to Sorento. A very attractive town, after a stroll around
and a climb down to the seafront, We took the boat back to Naples.
Sunday we took a boat trip to Capri. Some took a bus to the very top and thought the
views were wonderful.
The following day we went to the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli where we
were amazingly well received. Our first guide showed us around the Italian statues
and other exhibitions and his colleague conducted the tour of the Egyptian Collection
which was small but beautifully presented. Such an enjoyable and informative visit.
It was a very successful break away with a lovely group, the weather was perfect,
brilliant guides, excellent restaurants and well worth the visit.
