Opportunity to visit the Library of Alexandria, October 2018
The UK Friends of the Alexandria Library invite members of the British Egyptian Society and the Library and Information Association (CILIP) to attend the annual meeting of the International Friends of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (IFBA) to be held 14-17 October 2018

The IFBA programme will comprise:
Saturday 13:
– Informal lunch
Sunday 14 – Tuesday 16:
– Various meetings and working sessions at the Library
Wednesday 17 – Thursday 18:
– Excursion to be arranged by Egyptian Chapter
Friday 19:
– Departure
Most of those who attend regularly stay for a week (13-19) but independent choices of arrival and departure dates present no problems. The annual meeting usually features some of the many cultural events which the Library organises through the year. More than a dozen IFBA Chapters are expected to attend and their members know the Library well. Therefore, the UK Friends, together with the Library will arrange special meetings and visits for BES and CILIP members, devised to suit their specific or professional interests, to run in parallel with the IFBA meeting.

The Library arranges discounted hotel accommodation and coach travel to and from meetings at the Library, and the excursion. The city has many attractions, to be more fully listed at a later date. Best access to Alexandria is via Cairo airport from where licensed limos reach the city in about three and half hours.
