First BES & LMEI Debating Competition
This evening was a terrific success for all the students that presented and to the British Egyptian Society. The 4 speakers showed maturity beyond their years. Their presentations were unbelievably impressive and they showed depth of knowledge. Particularly impressive was the way they handled the Q&A session. It is all very well giving a prepared presentation but thinking on your feet and giving an off-the-cuff response is far more difficult. The judging panel, lead by Dr Christopher Norton, had a difficult decision to make. Announcing that Wilson’s with their lead debater George Worrall, were the winning team in no way diminished the quality of the other 3 speakers. The pause before the winner was announced served to show how close the verdict was. All students received new iPads and a CD copy of The Ayoub Sisters Debut Album, while the winning team and their teacher were offered a holiday in Luxor at a time convenient to them! – We look forward to receiving some of their pictures!
