A group of members and friends of the British Egyptian Society started their tour on the 4th floor of the Ashmolean for coffee where they were joined by Liam Macnamara, the Curator for Ancient Egypt and Sudan at the Ashmolean Museum.
Liam has been a great friend to the BES for many years.
Liam gave us a brilliant guided tour of the Egyptian Collection which really is quite stunning.
Followed by an enjoyable lunch at the Wig and Pen in George Street.
There was a change in plan at the Bodleian library as our designated curator Dr Daniela Rosenow, for the Tutankhamun Exhibition had been struck by covid!
However Dr Daniela very kindly spoke to us on Zoom in the library’s theatre for over an hour.
This was a wonderful talk on the exhibition which enabled us to know what we should be looking for during our tour.
Everyone really enjoyed the tour and look forward to attending future tours
