DESCRIPTION:Beyond Beauty: Transforming the Body in Ancient Egypt\nIn January 2016\, Two Temple Place will once again open to the public with the fifth of our annual Winter Exhibitions. \nADMISSION FREE \n10:00 – 16:30 Monday\n Tuesday closed\n 10:00 – 21:00 Wednesday LATE\n 10:00 – 16:30 Thursday\n 10:00 – 16:30 Friday\n 10:00 – 16:30 Saturday\n 11:00 – 16:30 Sunday \nBeyond Beauty will present the ancient Egyptians at their most varied and spectacular\, while also allowing us to glimpse them at their most intimate and human. \nThis major new exhibition will not only explore the day-to-day routines of ancient Egyptians\,it will also address the importance of appearance in the afterlife. Alongside extraordinary coffins and funerary head coverings will be their owners’ ancient mirrors\, combs and hairpins\, bracelets\, necklaces\, sandals\, textiles\,cosmetic vessels\, scent jars and other ornaments\,as well as tablets giving us insights into elite styles ofthe age\,which have echoes in the fashion and lifestyle magazines we read today. \nThis exhibition will once again be accompanied by a varied events programme and Tangerine Dream will be onhand to run our exhibition cafe\, which will sample traditional Egyptian cuisine\, as well as featuring old favorites such as their infamous lemon drizzle cake and chocolate brownies. \nTwo Temple Place Donation\nTwo Temple Place would like to use this opportunity to raise awareness and help spread the word about their latest funding campaign. \nCurrently funding covers all basic expenses of the exhibition but to display objects to their best advantage and make sure they are able to provide the best possible experience they are looking to raise £30\,000 in additional funding for lighting\, cases and additional conservation costs. \nIn a fitting repetition of the Victorian subscription-societies (or early crowd-funding!) that brought the objects to England 150 years ago\, they are hoping to gather additional support from the loyal supporters of Two Temple Place. \nYou can donate by visiting our Every Click page at the following link: http://www.everyclick.com/beyondbeauty2016 \nEvery donation supports both this exhibition and the future and protection of the beautiful objects in their homes around the UK.
